A Little Note from your friendly neighborhood voice teacher....

Hello!
My name is Stephanie Shumway and I am a vocal coach in the Bakersfield area. I teach music theory, sight reading, and ear training to all ages Whether you are seeking a broad musical education or preparing for a specific audition, recital, or musical, I'll do everything I can to meet your needs.

A bit about my background:
I've been singing for as long as I can remember, starting alongside my parents and 5 siblings. I spent my youth participating in musical camps, plays and musicals in school, taking piano lessons from my mom, playing the cello in the school orchestra, singing in the top choirs at the nationally renowned Highland High School under the direction of Rite Scholz, and more. When I was 14 I began taking vocal lessons from Marc Denton and loved every moment of it.

I continued my early love of music seeking advanced training in college at CGCC in Chandler, AZ. Besides many collegiate vocal accolades, I studied Vocal Performance and Musical Theater and starred in many productions there and with the amazing Copperstar Repertory Company in Gilbert, AZ. Other exploits had me singing with punk bands and frequenting open mic nights equipped with my trusty ukulele.

If you have any questions or are interested in vocal lessons, please don't hesitate to contact me using the contact form on the right. I look forward to hearing from you!
